The Story So Far

33-35 Main Street was a bar before it became the home of Gospel Church Minlaton.

In March of 2019 a small group of people started gathering as Gospel Church, meeting in an old shed behind a house on a back street. They had a committed core planting team of 3 adults, they had a heart to see more people on the Yorke Peninsula hear about Jesus and grow as His disciples, and they longed to see rural places reached in ways they have not been in a long time. In small places like Minlaton, gospel centred, missionally active, Bible preaching churches are almost unheard of, and that’s why we planted. From there, by God’s grace, Gospel Church has grown to a regular attendance of approximately 50, often more, but we have remained committed to our vision to see the good news of Jesus go out to all peoples in the country with transforming power for the glory of God and the joy of all who will come to believe.

Two years after planting, by God’s incredible provision, we were able to buy an uninhabited sports bar and turn it into a church building. And although it has been an incredible blessing in so many ways, it desperately needs work to be more suited to purpose, and to allow for further growth. In 2024, we had building plans prepared to renovate the building into something that we believe will be a home for faithful gospel ministry for generations to come.

So here’s the question: Can you, someone you know, or your church contribute to the spread of the gospel in Rural South Australia by contributing to this vital project? Our region is small, our resources are limited, but our area desperately needs more gospel ministry.
